It is said that deep in the swamps and bayous of Louisiana there lived a Cajun witch in a ramshackle hut. A young pregnant woman was lost, wandering through the swamps, and came upon the witch's hut just as she went into labor. The young woman died, leaving the witch with a baby girl.

But the witch did not see a baby girl: She saw a soul for the taking. In an elaborate rite, she attempted to use the baby's soul to summon a terrible demon, but her attempt failed, turning the baby into a monster, part lizard demon, part baby girl.

The witch saw the monster as useful, and she raised the monster girl until her fourth birthday — when the monster devoured the witch whole, leaving not a single evil bone to sully the earth.

It is said then that the Tirquitte still lives in the witch's ramshackle hut deep in the swamps, surviving on goats and chickens and any alligators which dare approach too close, and by these she has grown into a pretty young woman — but no man has yet seen the Tirquitte and lived to say for certain.

Erm... yes. True monster indeed.

(This is the last of the challenge pictures I'll be posting until next week some time; this week and weekend is booked solid, and I need to spend time doing something other than drawing. So enjoy, and I'll be back in August!)

So I had a few other story bits that were poking around the scary parts of my brain while I was designing her. The human part of her is generally in control of most of the body, but the demon still controls the mouth and tail. She treats it like a pet, and feeds it to keep herself alive; but she doesn't realize that letting her mouth eat anything it wants is a terrible thing to do, and more than once has been surprised that someone or something she was talking to has been swallowed whole by her mouth while she was distracted, leaving little more than crunching and a pool of blood where whatever it was once stood.

Also, it's rather terrifying how her breasts look like eyes, isn't it?

Enjoy your nightmares  :D
