The Curse

She was the prettiest girl in her village until a jealous swamp witch cursed her. For a month, she lay at the bottom of the bay, a tangled pile of miserable tentacles. But she consoled herself that at least no-one would ever recognize her: She could start a new life, pretend to be something else, to be someone else, and no-one would ever know that the monster in the bay had once been the prettiest girl in the village.
But, finally daring to explore the bay, she found a lost mirror, and she learned the awful truth: All would recognize her, and forever see the shame of her curse.
